McCaskill Jets in to Claim Support for Program She Axed from Defense Budget
ST. LOUIS – “Missouri” Senator Claire McCaskill continued her revisionist history tour today with a stop in St. Louis to feign support for the F-18 fighter jet program. Problem is, “Washington” Senator Claire McCaskill is a senior member of the senate committee responsible for cutting much of the program from the Department of Defense budget.
“Claire’s failure to defend the F-18 jeopardizes Missouri jobs, and threatens our national defense capabilities,” said Congressman Todd Akin, “Our armed services rely on this amazing product of Missouri to protect our freedoms, and thousands of Missourians rely on the jobs created by its production.”
Akin has championed the current five year budget authorization for the F-18 program. The Akin approach has resulted in $600 million in cost savings, and kept needed jobs in Missouri.
“Claire McCaskill has the dubious honor of serving as the first U.S. Senator from Washington, D.C. representing but one constituent, Barack Obama.” Akin continued. “Whether it’s gutting our national defenses, hiking taxes, or infringing upon our personal freedoms, Senator McCaskill, time and again, puts the Obama agenda ahead of Missouri and the long term welfare of our nation.”
