Akin for Senate Ends Year With Strong Numbers
For Immediate Release February 1, 2012
Akin Camp Outraises Primary Opponents In Cycle; Boasts Largest GOP Cash on Hand
ST. LOUIS - Support for Akin in the U.S. Senate race continues to grow with multiple straw poll victories, strong showing in debates, and now with year-end reporting showing our fundraising and cash on hand out-performing all other primary opponents.
Yesterday the Akin campaign reported $231,527.56 in receipts for the 4th quarter of 2011, from a total of over 1100 contributors. This will place the campaign’s cash on hand at $1,158,197.04 – more than double the nearest Republican primary competitor.
“Congressman Akin and all of us on the campaign team are thrilled to have such strong grassroots and financial support from a wide range of contributors,” campaign spokesman Ryan Hite said. “Akin’s strong message of returning fiscal sanity to Washington and removing the roadblock of a Democrat-controlled Senate is obviously resonating with Missouri voters.”
The year-end report shows that in this election cycle-to-date, Akin has raised over $1.5 million from more than 3500 contributors. This figure is also nearly double that of the nearest primary candidate.
“It is clear that Missourians want a change from Claire McCaskill,” Hite continued. “This is a change Missouri voters clearly welcome. They want a leader with integrity and courage – one who will stand for principle and not shift with political winds or bend to party leaders. Akin wants to end the McCaskill and Obama pattern of sending more money and more power to the federal government at every turn.”
